The two samplers, There Are Three Graves and There Are Two Graves, came from the same family. This larger sampler is the oldest one and was used for a template to stitch the smaller other sampler. Both samplers share parts from the same verse. Both are mourning samplers stitched in remembrance of a family member. They were likely done about 25 years apart, so not worked by the same person.
